Thoughts on Competition (or the lackthereof)

I’m not a particularly competitive person.

I care more about “winning” when I’m on a team, but that’s driven more by my desire to support others and understanding how important it is to them to win.

That’s not to say I don’t try my hardest. I do. To a fault. I will exhaust myself putting my best foot forward. I guess my motivations are just... different from most people? And I feel like my thoughts on this can be summed up in a handful of quotes that, on the surface, may feel at odds with one another in parts, but when you dig a little deeper, maybe they all come from the same place? A place of quiet confidence in the chaos. An inner knowing that everything is as it’s meant to be in the end.

“You can’t compete with me; I want you to win too.” -Try as I might, I can’t nail down the origin of this quote; if you know, please tell me so I can update this.

“It’s not pie; there’s enough for everyone.” This is less of a direct quote and more of a philosophy maybe?

And finally… No one should be surprised that I’m quoting FOB here; It was never a phase.

I guess when it comes down to it, the idea of competition is sort of irrelevant to me because I operate from a place where the ideal is everyone having what they need and what they want and understanding that when we are all in full alignment with ourselves, we’re never going to be competing for what someone else has. When we really get down to the roots of what makes us tick, none of us are exactly the same. Our desires, what drives us, what lights us up: they’re all unique. Of course there will be some overlap, but in a place where we’ve taken the time to get to know ourselves fully, it becomes clear that what is meant for us is designated for us and no one can take that away- furthermore, while we may have to work for it, we won’t have to FIGHT for it.
