Who will we be as a result of this?

(9/11/2025 Update: Oof. This was a tough read. Sending compassion her way. She didn't know what she knows now.)

😷 𝗜 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴. 😷
A few weeks ago this would have been a pretty ho hum experience, but today, there was an overwhelming sense of scarcity and tension in the air that, quite honestly, made me a little nauseous.
The shelves of canned goods were nearly empty.
Workers were hastily replacing the items as quickly as they were picked only to have them removed a few seconds later.
I wondered at a point if their time might be better served just handing the items over to the people in the aisles straight from the boxes. 🤷🏼♀️
Where I might have looked like a conspiracy theorist a month ago, the odd balls were the ones WITHOUT gloves and masks.
I was thankful to have had the opportunity to leave the Killdren home because, frankly, the environment might have frightened them in to thinking we’re not going to be okay.
But you know what? We ARE going to be okay.
Should we absolutely be taking every precaution possible? 💯
Should we be living in a place of fear and hopelessness? Absolutely not.
This too shall pass and though precious lives will be lost, my hope is that the actions we take today will limit that to the absolute minimum and we will rise a more empathetic people in their memory.
What I KNOW is that we will come out of this with a new found sense of what we are capable of when we are forced to get creative.
And with this gained perspective, will we use the knowledge given to us to create more possibilities in the future?
Will we move forward from a place of 𝓪𝓫𝓾𝓷𝓭𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮?
Will we 𝗗𝗢 𝗕𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥 because we 𝙆𝙉𝙊𝙒 𝘽𝙀𝙏𝙏𝙀𝙍?
I know I will.
𝑾𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒋𝒐𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒆?
