Skin is just skin.

I have really struggled with what to say or how to say it because my words are inadequate here, but silence is no longer acceptable. 

So all I will say is that I stand with my black brothers and sisters, and, if need be, BETWEEN them and anyone who would do harm to them because of the color of their skin.

And for anyone who still begins their sentences with “I’m not racist but...”; I implore you to look within and figure out where the fear that is driving those thoughts comes from and refuse to give it any more attention. 

The thoughts will come because we have been conditioned to fear dark skin, but you have a CHOICE here. 

Choose to acknowledge those thoughts and immediately remove their power over you. 

Acknowledge them and fact check them and dismiss them and move on. 

This has to end. Skin is just skin.
