In my last blog, I introduced Swap.com as an option for those looking to dive in to the deep end of online consignment shopping and as promised, I've put together an in depth view of my first (yes, there have been SEVERAL since then) experience with Swap!
Swap is an online consignment shop that started out consigning only children's clothes, but has since expanded to include women's & men's clothing and accessories. They are now one of the fastest growing online businesses and they emphasize thriftiness & keeping clothing out of landfills.
It took me less than an hour using their filters to find 15 short sleeved shirts/bodysuits, 5 long sleeves, 2 pairs of shorts, a pair of swim trunks, 3 joggers & 5 pairs of khakis/jeans for our 19 month old- enough shirts, bodysuits, shorts & pants to last him through winter for around $94 (less than what I would normally pay for around the same or less product) and because the order was over $60, shipping was FREE. Had I gone in to it with a referral like I'm giving my readers, I would have received an additional 20% OFF. That is what I like to call a steal.
All their items are checked for quality as they arrive, so you are guaranteed to receive "like new" items (unless otherwise specified), with no visible stains or damage (how do these parents even manage that???), and if there is an issue, they will refund you in full & pay for the shipping back to them. Here is their full Return Policy if you're interested, but it's definitely one of the better ones I've ever seen.
The items shipped fairly quickly, but as I realized when relaying the experience to a friend, I found myself annoyed with the standard shipping time (7-10 days) because, like many others, I have been spoiled by Amazon Prime's standard two-day shipping. Do better, Shannon. Once I took a step back and did a much needed reality check, I realized the time it took to get to me was actually LESS than expected!
In summary, I'm extremely impressed with my first experience with Swap (and my second, and third... oops!) and I will definitely be back as needed!
If you would like to try them out, please follow this link to let them know I sent you, enjoy an additional 20% off and let us know in the comments what you're experience was like!
